Subject deck works well except when stopping in mid-rewind.Left hand takeup reel stops smoothly but right hand reel continues in motion unspooling 12+ inches of tape before stopping. When the tensioner resets it usually, but not always, breaks the tape.

Have cleaned reel hub and inspected brake and cleaned brake pads. Any direction on how to fix?

Are parts available for this deck still? If so, I'd check the brake solenoid and replace the brake pads if necessary.

Hi,

I have most parts for the TC-650 ( one got destruyed in shipping on its way to me from Florida. The brake pads are probably worn, or the spring tensioner needs to be set at a higher level. These things can be checked by taking the front panel off and operating the set.
