I've got a Tascam 38 with a lot of goo on the pinch roller. Since the roller is rubber, I'm leary of using alcohol, but this stuff is really sticky and looks like some sort of grease. Anybody have any suggestions? Also, know of any places that carry replacement parts for the 38?

The pinch roller is shot. Alcohol won't help, you'll have to replace it.

Yeah - I suspected as much. Any ideas where I can get a replacement? I did see one on eBay and made a bid, but I'd like a better source for future repairs.

Try Tascam.com, hopefully they have those pinch rollers in stock.
