I'm really hoping someone can offer some advice on my turntable stereo settings. I'm what can be considered "stereo challenged". I have the Audio Technica PL 120 hooked up to my Onkyo A9555. The Oknkyo is fabulous for everything I have input except for the turntable. I am getting big noise and I have tried reversing the rca plugs (in case I'd reversed them during hookup) and there is no change. I can hear music but the noise is seriously booming. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've even played with the weight balance of the needle arm and that makes no difference.

Have you grounded the turntable? The chassis ground of the table should be connected to chassis ground on your amp. Usually, there is a black wire coming from the turntable connected to the tone arm and head shell. Most amps with a phono input have a place to connect a ground. If you haven't grounded the turntable, you'll want to do that now.
