I have a Philco turntable. Both speakers hum, I can raise the volume and listen over the hum, however at low volume the hum is too loud.
It is a Stereophonic ( I think ).
Could this be the tubes?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

If this is an old console system with tubes, more than likely the power supply filter capacitors are bad. They're easy to identify and replace, physically large and easy to spot. Just replace them with equal value or larger capacitors. They're probably values like 20uF or 33uF. Replace them with 250v or 400v polypropylene caps and they'll last a lifetime.
