I picked up an old Citizen record player a while back; it came with a needle that worked OK for a bit. Now, when I play records, the sound distorts on the outside tracks (the record slows down and stops revolving), but it still works fine on the tracks closer to the center. I thought it might be the condition of the used records, but the same thing happened with a brand new record. I bought a new stylus, and the same thing happens! But! I've found that the thicker records play perfectly. I tried stacking a thinner record that distorts on top of a thicker one, and that seems to work, but I'm guessing that's not good for my records.
Anybody know what I can do to fix this?
