My ears are bleeding.
IN preparation for bringing home the Marantz TT tomorra, I set up the Fisher 222 for it's fono stage. Pulled those ghastly u-shaped jumpers. Brought the Ella upstairs to power the Fostex 103 screamers. So I want to make certain the functions are good, clean, etc and I plug in the heavily mod'd SACD player. Take Five sounds pretty nice at the moderate level I tried. Then I decided to see if things would cook at a higher level.
Yeesh. The Fostex are bright enuf w/o this! Ouch. That warm Fisher sound is nowhere around here. Desmond is screeching at me.
Have the parts on order to build a Hagerman Bugle for $50 and run it off the Bottlehead power supply around here someplace but that's down the road a bit. Guess I'll be listening to SOFT music on vinyl for awhile.
Off to the Motor City in the A.M.
