Picked up a SL-220 today ($5) that I saw sitting on a table at a garage sale as I drove by. Needs a new belt, but motor spindle seems to turn and not make any obvious noise. Has an AT cart on it. Looks kinda like the P-mount on my SL-5, only on an adapter for 1/2".

This thing worth messing with? Seems lightweight overall with the plastic base and a cast platter.

Cool! Does it work? Or is the belt totally gone?

I like the SL-1200's and the other direct drive Technics models, but that's just me. I'd probably still replace the belt on your SL-220 and fix it up. You can always put it on the SwapMeet forum and find it a new home later if you decide to get a different turntable sometime.

Everything seems to work except the belt is completely gone. Motor spins, auto lift and all that work. Should be fine with a new belt and some cleaning up/tweaking. It's definitely low end Technics, but what the heck for $5.

Yeah, no doubt. Grab a belt and let us know how it sounds.
