Hello.

One thing I am wondering about right now is the accessory installed onto the turntable. What is does is cleans records as they are played. Unfortunately, I am relatively new to that and not very familiar with the terminology. Can anybody, please, suggest the term for this accessory? Thank you!

By the way, it is a Technics SL-1200 M3D turntable, if that matters. (I believe it does.)

Would you really want a device that cleaned the record as it played? Seems to me that's a little like listening while someone is running the vacuum sweeper. Even if it's just a passive device that picks up lint, like a brush or something, it still would be generating its own noise and drag. I think I'd pass on a device like that.

I agree with Wayne. Those "Dust Bugs" or what ever they are called have to be introducing some sort of rumble or noise. Find yourself a used VPI 16 cleaner and clean the record before playing it. I have seen a ton of them on audiogon for around 250-275 latley wich is VERY cheap.
