MY ST-8 IS MAKING A RUBBING NOISE, SOUNDS LIKE THE BELT, IT IS ALSO TURNING TOO SLOW, I'M GUESSING THE BELT MAY BE SLIPPING? OR SOMETHING IS BINDING? THE PLATTER HAS A STICKER SAYING NOT TO REMOVE, NO SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE, I ASSUME TO KEEP ROOKIES LIKE ME FROM GETTING THEMSELVES IN TROUBLE. JUST WONDER IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE A WORN BELT OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS AND COULD I REPLACE IT MYSELF? I HAVE A PRETTY IN DEPTH MANUAL THAT LIST EVERYTHING EXCEPT HOW TO REPLACE THE BELT..ANY HELP WELCOME....

Does the platter rub on the table perhaps?

I DON'T THINK SO, BUT IT'S HARD TO TELL. THE PLATTER DOES HAVE QUITE A BIT OF UP AND DOWN TRAVEL, BUT I ASSUME THIS IS NORMAL, THE PLATTER SINKS INTO THE TABLE SO IT'S HARD TO SEE ANYTHING. IF I TURN THE PLATTER UP TO SPEED BY HAND THE NOISE GOES AWAY, BUT WHEN I TURN IT THIS FAST IT FEELS LIKE THE BELT IS ALSO SLIPPING?
THANKS FOR THE MANUAL LINK, BUT IT'S THE SAME ONE I ALREADY HAVE, NOTHING ABOUT THE BELT...I COULD BRING IT IN AS I LIVE CLOSE TO THE NEEDLE DR., BUT I AM ALSO CONSIDERING NEW, NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, DON'T WANT TO BUY NEW UNLESS IT'S BETTER THAN WHAT I HAVE.
THANX FOR THE RESPONSE....JOHNNYBOY

THANX FOR THE RESPONSE, I FOUND IT WAS THE BELT, IT HAD SOMEHOW TWISTED? I WAS ABLE TO LIFT THE PLATTER FAR ENOUGH TO GET IT BACK ON TRACK, ALL OK NOW... THANX AGAIN.....
