I've not posted here before, but I check the conversation occasionally and now I have a question about an SME 3009 Series II Improved tonearm for you guys.

Given a choice, would you take the one with the fixed headshell or the removable headshell?

Bill

Fixed. Greater mechanical integrity.

I was leaning towards the fixed headshell just for the reduced number of connections, but greater mechanical strength is an advantage I didn't think of. If I have the choice, I'll go with the fixed.

Thanks manualblock.

If you have a tremor in your right arm, wear an out-dated prescription of bi-focals and have arthritic hands....guess what? You're me. And there's no way I could affix a cartridge to an attached headshell w/o damaging something.

Yeah but you still have to adjust it while it's on the arm right?
