Wouldn't be uncommon if it was initially used by a European audiophile to run in 220 and have and/or need a step down to run in the States. Hardwiring a new power cord isn't to tricky - maybe take to a local tv/audio/ttable repair outfit and get the heads/tails on what you've got. I wouldn't want to damage the motor powering it up at the wrong voltage, even if it is 110 for a 220.
