can someone explain why a reissue wont sound as good as an original? is this because the condition of the tapes will have changed since the original pressing? is this problem, then, less apparent in 80s analog recordings versus a 60s analog recording?

Who said a re-issue won't sound as good?

In my opinion most reissues are better sounding... [message #12286 is a reply to message #12279] Tue, 21 June 2005 14:04 Go to previous message

Note I said most. There are exceptions of course. But most of the reissues I have heard sound better than the originals I have also heard. The below web site discusses reissues in particular, classical reissues. I find the entire web site very interesting. I agree with almost all of this guys picks as the best recordings. I own quite a few of them. His stuff on the audio Magazines is also very interesting. Again IMO. I have absolutely no connection with the web site or the people mentioned.
