The 10X5 won't fit inside the confines of the SME 3009-R headshell. The 'flight deck of the Forrestal' aluminum top plate extends too far forward of the cartridge body and won't fit inside of the rim of the headshell.
Called Music Direct and they suggested what I already knew, the only recourse is get a flat, Sumiko universal headshell. I like the fact the salesman gave me a small discount to make the extra expense more tolerable rather than try to upsell me to a cart that would fit. He said the 10X5 is a sleeper, a giant-killer and has "powerful bass".
I console myself with not having that lovely black magnesium objet d'art on the arm with the idea that I can leave the Grado mounted on it and ready to go.

Thats a healthy way to look at it. please keep us informed on the performance of that cart, it is indeed supposed to be a giant killer, and I for one am interested in your findings.
