Well, what happens if you take two SE amps, details aren't too important yet, and bridge them?

Do the phase splitting well, and load the secondary properly. Compare to a PP amp running what is effectively the same load ( 2x SE load ).

Both topologies cancel the 2nd harmonic equally well. Both set-ups have the same power. One has to deal with DC on the core, while the PP should not.

any predictions on sound quality, better yet, anybody have a spare pair of SE amps?
regards,
Douglas

I'm guessing on the SET amp, you're talking parallel output tubes, with one having phase reversed on the input and the output. Each tube requires its own output transformer that way. I haven't looked closely at parallel SET amps, but I'm guessing most run the tubes together, and use a single common transformer. Doubles power but doesn't cancel even harmonics. You're proposing a split-phase pair of SET's instead, yes?

The analog of splitting a PP amp right down the middle, including its OPTx. Feed them a balanced( instead of 'phase split', it sounds less like a 'PP damaged' term ).

The result will be 2x the power( minus the 2nd harmonic which gets cancelled ).

What about the sound? Aside from sonic quality impression, it seems like the worst way to accomplish PP.

It's probably the best way to make a parallel SET. Except, of course, for the higher cost of having two output transformers.
