I've been a listener of SET tube amps and full range single drivers for a couple of years. For SETs: ASL el34s, Decware 84c & SE34i, ASL Orchid, and heard a bunch of more expensive ones at friends. I've also heard plenty of Push Pull tube amp over 25 years. Some class A solid staters like British Fidelity, Bedini... Then, 10 minutes after listening to the 47 Labs Shigaraki with Jordan jx92s in transmission lines, I said, "this is the best amp I've ever heard." Planing on building a gainclone this winter.

Wayne, This is a good site: http://www.decdun.fsnet.co.uk/gaincloneindex.html#top1 I am about to convert an old kit amp with a suitable
power supply to an inverted 1875 gainclone using
pc boards from Scott Nixon. This is an interesting and vital group these days.
The forum I follow hereis: www.ampchipdiy.com. This amp is intended for the next Studio 2 PI Tower
I should complete over the weekend. These amps should be ideal for most high efficiency
speakers. Once I finish my first pass I will have
the S2PIT, and a pair of Lowther Medallions to try

A simplier solution is to use a kit from Scott Nixon. Or for lazy/stupid folks like me, just buy one/two of his amps.

http://www.scott-nixon.com/ Scott needs to update/fix his site, but he's probably very busy. He offers 20 wpc stereo models starting at $400 and goes up to $2,000 for a pair of 40 wpc monoblocks in fancy cases as well as parts for DIY. I've heard that his prices may have come down as he has changed to cases that are easier to work with. And of course he sells his nearly famous DacKit, TubeDac, etc. assembled or in kits. Now if he'd just add a simple preamp with remote control... BTW Ronnie, from the Carolina Audio link, builds Jordan 92S single driver transmission line designs and 2-way transmission line speakers in the lineage of Irving M. (Bud) Fried that don't need subs.

I've looking for someone who has heard of Scott Nixons amps & Ronnies speakers. Last week I received my Jordans subs and JSM from Carolina Audio and am now looking to replace my greatly under ulitised Carver LightStar 2.0. George

George, I'm nearing completion of a Scott Nixon 1875 inverted
chip amp (gainclone?). I will post the results. It's
very simple to put together once you settle on the
physical mounting of the binding posts and heat sink. Skip
