Re: Aztec Monet Cabinets
The Omega driver's recommended vented enclosure is 3.28 ft3 with an Fb of 48hz. I think the 4pi is 3.14 ft3 tuned to 42hz. I could keep the woofer centered in its enclosure or move it up closer to the horn. Perhaps I should make the woofer enclosure sligh...

Re: Aztec Monet Cabinets
Just watch for lower midrange ripple resulting from internal standing waves. That's always the risk with large two-way loudspeaker designs. The positions of the midwoofer, port(s) and damping material all are very important.

Re: 4Pi - alternate compression driver mounting?
There's the rub. When flipping the box over, the waveguide and midwoofer are placed closer together than they would be if the woofer remained low in the box with the waveguide perched on top. So flipping the box over brings 'em closer together, prett...

Alternatives (aka poking with a stick and a smile): - Those cabinets have never been any smaller and you wouldn't be creating the first standing waves inside them. Ever ride in a very old restored car (but it's Restored!)? https://www.merriam-webster....

Re: Aztec Monet Cabinets
My Monet cabinets are still in my bedroom staring at me. I've done some studying but don't think I'll turn into a speaker designer overnight. Did some web searching to look at other large speakers from back in the day. Aztec Valencia caught my eye. But wav...

Re: 4pi build with stands finally realized
Your measurements look good, congratulations! I feel better about that 2226H cone now, because the measurements appear in line with what I expect from the OEM. As for box tuning at 35Hz, that's not bad at all. The expected Helmholtz frequency is 37H...

Re: 8 years later
I think you'll be OK on that one. Some changes in some speakers are more problematic than others. But in your case, the bass bin is already overdamped enough that slight shifts won't push the alignment into a peaky configuration. And the cabinet doesn...

Re: 2Pi Tower Build
No need to round the edges of the cutouts. As for the insulation, the section on the braces is horizontal, just like you saw. That's really important. It completely covers the brace, spans side to side and fore to aft. When the insulation is installe...

Re: 28kHz standing waves and diffraction schlieren demo
Up until the Muybridge photos nobody could say for sure if all of a horses legs were off the ground when they ran. These photos were proof. It was a big deal at the time.

Sounds cool. Watching your ballet-guy, however, just made me think of those original efforts in trying to determine galloping horse footwork
