Re: 7 PI Plans
Bass response of the seven π cornerhorns is the same as the four π speakers. What's different is the behaviour of sound at frequencies above midbass. The corner loading of the woofer and the midhorn prevent any self-interference from nearby boundaries,...

Re: 3 Pi and 4 Pi comparison
Well, the three π loudspeaker does offer greater extension. I think if I weren't planning to use a sub, I'd go with that. It sounds good without a sub, but please be mindful that flanking subs smooth room modes. That's even more important than the ext...

Re: How does one emulate the typical theater sound?
You're absolutely right. With a projector and screen, you can put the center speaker behind the screen. That's definitely the best approach. When running a plasma or LCD screen though, I'd have to say I don't think there is a good center channel optio...

Re: Pi7 Mid Horn Question's
I'd bet a month's pay that your anomaly at 80Hz is from standing waves in the room, or more likely from a reflection from the wall behind the speakers. They are similar issues, both self-interference from room boundaries. Those kinds of issues are rea...

Re: 4 Pi Home Theater Build
One or two more subs, do I look like a sub junkie to you!
Okay, maybe I could become one. When I return to the US (nearly 1 year complete, 1 more to go) I am thinking about building true 3 Pi sub enclosures (vice 16" sealed cubes) for my fla...

Re: 4PI Cabinet plans / question
Thanks for the quick response!
Sealed center seems like a good idea then. It will keep the speakers looking "even" as opposed to offsetting the port either way in the center.
I asked about the terminals because it'll likely cost more fo...

Re: 4PI Cabinet plans / question
what is the down side of doing sealed versions of 4PIs other than higher LF roll-off point? why do you not recommend going sealed for the L/R speakers?
It is often said that sealed mains are easier to integrate in multisub setups when mains and subs...

Re: 4PI Cabinet plans / question
I've sent plans to your email address.
Kits include the binding post terminal, but crossovers by themselves do not. The one we ship in the kits need a 2-1/8" x 2-7/8" hole cutout.
The four π speaker and its crossover are specifically des...

Re: 12Pi
The 12π hornsub (and flatpack kit) is made using five sheets of 19mm baltic birch, all CNC cut.
For home hifi, it is extreme overkill. I'd prefer using a pair of three π subs flanking the mains and another pair in the opposite corners of the room. T...

Re: 4 Pi Design Questions
The measurement above 200Hz is pretty much the same as a standard four π loudspeaker when measured in this manner. And yes, frankly, that's a very good chart. But below 200Hz, it's ambiguous because only room modes can be seen. That's where you would ...
