Re: 4 Pi Speakers and 3 Pi Subwoofer Request Plus Question
Thanks. It is always reassuring to hear a few more oppinions. I will probably do most of the upgrades except the capacitors. That will help pay for the cost of the subs. My speaker quest started when I contemplated buying a sub to add to my curre...

Re: 4 Pi Speakers and 3 Pi Subwoofer Request Plus Question
Dave, I have the 4 Pi speakers in standard configuration. I have been listening to them for over 5 years. Prior to that, I was on a constant hunt to upgrade my speakers. That stopped when I built the 4 Pi. These speakers are nothing short of amazing. Dynam...

Room modes, multisubs and flanking subs
When I first considered the multisub approach, it was prompted by papers written by Todd Welti. He did several tests that showed in-room amplitude response could be made smoother using multiple subs, and gave specific guidance about placement. His favo...

Re: Multiple Speakers
This is an interesting thread. I'm most curious about the 5.2 set up. Frankly it's my first time to hear about it. I'mĀ familiar with the 5.1, wherein the audio inputs from the player are fed to the subwoofer. The subwoofer then distributes audio output to ...

Re: Multiple Speakers
Movies -> 5.2 (that's not a typo) Music -> 2 or 2.2 In case you are wondering, the decimal numbers represent subwoofer channels. I guess the reasoning is they are not full range and thus, not a whole channel. Adding extra speakers for the sa...

Versions and Upgrades
I agree with your assessment of the crossover. The new version (2007) is an incremental improvement over the original, not a night-and-day paradigm shift by any means. The basic design hasn't changed in many years. But having the latest version of the...

Re: Multiple Subwoofers
This is amazing information because I always thought one subwoofer was enough. Question I have is does it matter what type of flooring the subwoofer is sitting on? Hardwood versus carpeting, carpeting and pad over concrete. What do you think?

Going without a subwoofer.... even with smaller drivers?
Anyone have experiences to share regarding bass coupling between multiple woofers and how an array of woofers performed in bass output that was or "sims" to be very different than one or two of said woofers in a more conventional design? I am ...
