Re: And an even more indepth article
That's a pretty big deal. The issue of back EMF and load impedance is significant. I think the best way to get a handle on this is to start from a simple perspective and visualize the situation, progressing to more complex attributes in steps. 1. ...

Re: Towers
In my experience, baffle step is not a problem for speakers that are boundary loaded anyway. There is only a small frequency interval between where the baffle acts as a boundary and the rear wall acts as a boundary. Since this range isn't sharply marke...

Impedance curves answers
Each of those impedance curves are pretty good, really. Not a lot of fluctuation. Depending on your crossover and amp, it may or may not be an issue. If so, you can use a Zobel to counteract some of the change, specifically, the rising impedance due t...

Re: L-pad on LF driver
Hi Tomnot my fave scenario but had to do it on my Edgarhorn 100 system to match midhorn - the 1/4 size 100Hz m=0.5 horn uses a JBL 2220H so above ~125Hz, sensitiviy is about 109dB 1W/1M - midhorn probababy 103 ss - JBL LE5 on 250Hz rectangular tractrix - b...

Tube amps and four π speakers
Several people are running Theater Series four π speakers on Paramours and report no ill-behaved traits. The person you are talking about recently took delivery of some nice teakwood Theater Series four π loudspeakers. Initially, he felt he might hav...

Re: Output Impedance of my Son of Zen amp - Compatibility with Pi 7 setup
Output impedance of 16 ohms is pretty high. Even speakers with low Zmax will peak higher than that. I would expect some response fluctuation using any speaker on that amp.

Things and stuff
The "Thermionic" series references the name of the property that makes tubes work, "thermionic emission." The Thermionic Series is a line of speakers that has been specifically designed with tube amps in mind. They are high efficien...

Pi's and Tubes
When using a tube amplifier, most know to look for speakers with high efficiency ratings. What is sometimes overlooked is impedance. This is important too because it may affect the response curve in some cases. I'm not talking about its (8 or 16 ohm) &...
