Re: My 3π adventure
I like symmetrical multisubs, which is a Welti arrangement. You can use such an arrangement and also include flanking subs. Place the mains with flanking subs outboard. They are just a little behind, beside and below the mains. They are stereo subs...

Re: My 3π adventure
Measured in-room, I think your response curves are pretty good. This is typical in-room response. Looks to me like all is working as designed. In-room measurements show the room more than they do the speakers. But having a waveguide speaker really ...

Re: 2 channel reinforcement subs
Look up threads on "flanking subs." Basically, you run the subs pretty high, with a gentle low-pass filter. I like 100Hz second-order. Run the mains full range, so they blend with the flanking subs. Set a sub just beside, behind and below t...

2226h upgrade?
I have a pair of AE TD18+ woofers for a project that I planned on doing but after having a baby realized that probably isn't going to happen in the next decade. I am currently running 4pis with flanking 3pi subs and I am very happy but I am itching for a c...

Re: Going from Stereo pi4 to Home Theater
You've picked all the right stuff. I'd go with a center four Pi to match the right and left mains. You can delete the port on a center channel four Pi speaker, just center the tweeter. Use three Pi subs flanking each of the mains, and if you have ro...

Re: 4pi Speakers - Are My Tweeters Wired Incorrectly?
You've got 'em wired right, and both sets of charts show you that. As Chris said, a response chart will show a deep notch (greater than 10dB) on-axis around 1.2kHz if the tweeter or woofer is wired backwards. And an impulse chart should show a spik...

Re: 4pi build with stands finally realized
Thanks for the kind words. It is really satisfying to make a plan and see it come alive. The result is just what I hoped it would be so far. D.i.y is way more rewarding than just buying and swapping out stuff. This is my plan for "flanking" subs...

Re: 4pi build with stands finally realized
Will try to do a soundcheck today, but work is calling, and I will be away 14 days. You see the rest of my system in the background. The 4pi's will be matched to the 21" subwoofers in the corner. They are Precision Devices PD2150 tuned to 18Hz, drive...

Re: 3pis built & subs purchased. Finalizing Placement in AT Baffle Wall
That will probably work just fine. Do set it all up on stands and audition it before committing though. One of the things required for flanking subs to work is an unusually high frequency low-pass on the subs. This provides blending in the upper midba...

Re: 3pis built & subs purchased. Finalizing Placement in AT Baffle Wall
It looks great to me. At first glance, I thought maybe the mains could have been higher in relation to the flanking subs but when I started looking at actual dimension figures, it all looks right to me. Should work very nicely.
