Re: 1pi or 2pi for surrounds?
You might consider getting one of these: Active Sub CrossoverSeems cheesy, but it really works great. If you are running a separate sub amp anyway, then this isn't much extra cost at all. And doing the mods is kinda fun too. Just set the mains as &...

Re: 4 Pi and 3 Pi Subwoofer
My kits arrived. I need to get my act together with building the cabinets. I'm building them out of 3/4" mdf with cherry veneer to match the cherry surround on my Rega P5. I'll be veneering some shelves (for a flexy-rack) first, but I'll still be v...

Re: Subwoofer hook-up
With a passive preamp, you pretty much have to use mains that have input adjustments in order to set the relative volume levels between mains and subs. This is true with active preamps too, if there is just one output. That's how I run mine - I have an...

Members of the Houston Audio Society are planning two events for August. On Sunday, August 7th, I'm hosting a Selah Audio listening session at my house in the Northwest suburbs. In the session Rick Craig will provide two components that most Audiophiles...

Re: Modify crossover
Using these speakers my set up has been 6pi. I have built many systems through the years, (the 6pi being the best) but due to some disease I can not leave well enough alone. The only self built speakers I have left are a pair of Zigmahornets. I...

Modify crossover
Change a PXB3:1K6 crossover to a PXB2:1K6 Using the Eminence PXB3:1K6 crossover. I want to full range the mid and high for small gigs. Active crossover between this and the Delta for larger gigs. What component elimination and changes do I have to ...

Re: Active 3 PI
Hi Wayne, I was thinking about trying this too, but the thing that put me off was listening to some HPDs and realising how good a well developed crossover can sound. I've heard other coaxes that had more rudimentary crossovers and it made me appreci...

Re: Stereo Electronic Cross-over
Marchand makes high-fidelity active crossovers, and they are adjustable from the front panel, which will make it a little easier to dial them in. Steve Bench also makes a neat little active 6DJ8 crossover if you're more into DIY.

Re: Active 3 PI
It's not that active crossovers aren't possible for this speaker. It's that you would need to do some work to optimize it. If you don't, then the passive crossover would be better. I get asked this question a lot, at least a couple times a day, here...
