Baffle Step
In my opinion, baffle step compensation filters can be useful, but only for a fairly limited number of loudspeaker types. I think they are way overused in the DIY community. BSC filters are best suited for little mini-monitor speakers with small baffle...

Re: Advantages of getting a 3D speaker
If what you want is loudspeakers that create a very good illusion that sound sources seem to be coming from places matching what you're seeing on the screen, then I would suggest studying the topics of constant directivity, uniform reverberent field, Haa...

Re: 7pi Plans
Yes, that's true. I noticed that I mislabeled that a while back, meant to change it and forgot. It's been labeled like that for a while. About woofer sensitivity, I'd pad the midhorn and tweeter to match. You might build it as-is and measure to fin...

Re: On axis measurements in nearfield listening
I think not enough people building line arrays depend on measurements like they should. Measurements are extremely important with arrays if you want the best sound.

Re: On axis measurements in nearfield listening
What I'm saying is that a loudspeaker produces sound eminating all directions from it, not just straight forward. This goes without saying, I suppose, and you're aware of it or you wouldn't have brought it up here. What I'm also saying is that I believ...

Re: On axis measurements in nearfield listening
I have found that most folks on the PE forum rarely (or never) do measurements. They trust their models instead. I'm not against models by any means, using them extensively. In fact, I think most people have better results with models than they would ...

Re: Help please ... from the bottom up
Response for the tower two π speaker looks like this: This is a pseudo-anechoic measurement, so the bass isn't shown. The towers have nice, deep, full bass though. To put numbers on it, f3 is 40Hz and f10 is about 30Hz. Its impedance curve ...

Active Sub Crossover
On a lark, I purchased an active subwoofer crossover module a few months back. I was looking at options to plate amps, something that would allow me to use one of my many existing amplifiers with subs. My thinking was that plate amps are fine, but I al...

Re: Pi Three or Two Tower - suggestions Wayne please?
Both are great speakers, and both work very nicely on tube amps. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. The two π tower has a small footprint, low cost and deep extended bass. It is a smooth sounding speaker that is popular with just about everyone. It ...

Re: What's your favorite horn and crossover for the DE250?
I like the Eminence H290 90°x40° horn, and especially my own π wood horn. It has a straight sides, radiused to match the throat entry angle like an oblate spheroid or quadratic horn. The mouth is radiused too, to eliminate any sharp edges. This reduce...
