Re: Speakers with inbuilt lights?
Too gimmicky. Look for a speaker that sounds good. Extra points if the manufacturer publishes specifications that prove flat response, uniform directivity, and low distortion.

Re: One System For Everything
Audio quality is still important, no matter if it's for home theater or high-fidelity. While some people would "optimize" for one or the other, I think what's good for high-fidelity music is also good for home theater. Smooth bass, clear midr...

Re: Two PI: A Little Bright OR Light in the Bass?
Your comments are right in line with my impressions too. The two π model has a lot in common with Audio Note speakers. The bookshelf version is a little smaller , so has a slightly higher f3 and the tower version is larger, so has lower f3. But both m...

Re: Svelte 3pi
You are focused on the right things. One main thing you have to watch out for in these larger full-range cabinets with midwoofers run high is the internal standing wave modes. You can't put a sound source where a pressure node lies or it will manifes...

Re: 2pi, 3pi, Zaph ZA5.3 for In-Wall LCR?
I'll refrain from comment on the technologies you may choose from, except to say that these speakers have been compared before in various forums. You might want to look at the H290C Horn/Waveguide thread for detailed information on our waveguide impleme...

Re: Speaker locations
Of course, there's a sort of "Goldilocks setup" where the toe-in and separation give a natural soundstage over a wide listening area or "sweet spot". Too far apart and the illusion breaks down, but too close together and even with un...

Re: Pi 3 or 4?
It is a pretty common question, you're right. And my answer is always that what you're really doing is choosing the midwoofer family more than anything else. Thes two speakers have very similar spectral balance. They are very much alike. This is even...

Re: H290C Horn/Waveguide
There were several influences that drove my decision to create this horn. The most important one was an observation that radial horns having relatively constant horizontal directivity sounded best to me. Objectively, they had smooth response and unifor...

Re: Could this be Peace In Our Time?
I love the way you describe yourself, Bill. You're born to write, that's for sure. Yeah, the measurements show the Rs resistor needs to be there in most cases, and even where it doesn't need to be there, it doesn't hurt. The C1 capacitor provides a ...

Re: Visual Symmetry vs Sound
Center the TV and speakers so they are symmetric to the couch. This will give the best sound and overall presentation. Even if the speakers are capable of a tight pattern and uniform directivity, you want the mains to be symmetrical with respect to...
