Re: 3Pi speakers - various questions
Thank you Wayne. We are lining the entire 4 (of 6) room surfaces with panels similar to the range of low frequency control devices such as panels from RPG (look under the "low frequency" tab), and the Primacoustic Maxtrap. We are also refe...

Re: 3Pi speakers - various questions
Surface treatments are useful for reducing reflections from about 300Hz upwards. But they do not work at bass frequencies, not at all. You can't get a surface treatment to work much below midrange. It would have to be very thick - like measured in feet ...

Re: How do I keep deep bass from the neighbors?
The good news about being upstairs in a traditional North American framed home is that the rooms are naturally damped somewhat. There are no rigid surfaces on any side, so all become panel absorbers, of sorts. The walls and ceiling are drywall, which a...

Re: How do I keep deep bass from the neighbors?
Can you give me a link about panel absorbers? As far as the room rebuild, I think I'm going to need to knock out an existing wall to get the large rectangle I need. Even though the house I pick will be five years or less old, even 2500 sq feet won't...

Re: How do I keep deep bass from the neighbors?
The way to do it is to use panel absorbers surrounded by a thick, solid set of walls. The panel absorbers form inner walls which absorb energy. This both attenuates sound going out and damps standing waves, smoothing room modes. The outer walls block ...

Re: Drapes or Curtains
To absorb bass frequencies, you'll need a panel absorber, like this: "False Wall" panel absorbers

Re: 4 Pi Home Theater Build
Bass traps are effective, provided they actually absorb enough energy. Panel absorbers work best. They can be made as a false wall, and therefore can be somewhat inconspicuous. Too bad you can't get more subs. Even just a couple more small car subs...

Re: 4 Pi Home Theater Build
The hardest thing to deal with is those rigid walls. I saw this in Europe too, lots of concrete flats with stucco walls. Hard surfaces on all six boundaries - all four walls, ceiling and floor. You can damp the midrange and treble reflections with car...

2 Pi Tower versus 3 Pi
A set of four 2 Pi Tower loudspeakers were completed about a month ago for use in friend's home theater. A delay in construction has allowed an extended audition of the 2 Pi tower in my listening room. These particular 2 Pi Towers are constructed from 3/4&...
