Re: Should I get an Audio-Technics AT-PL120?
A friend of mine bought one of those a couple months back. When he told me about it, I first thought it was one of those cheapo tables (it is actually) but it turns out to be pretty good. Now don't take that to mean I think it compares with a Teres table ...

Re: Technics SL-220 Very low volume output!
Sounds like you need a phono stage. The one you mentioned will work just fine. There are others too, so look through the posts in the link below:Phono StageAs for the ground connection, it is used to reduce hum. If your phono preamp has a ground lug, h...

Re: sony ps-lx350h question
Sounds like the cartridges have different output levels. You might need a phono stage.

Re: Right on: and send me those stinkin' albums
Right now I'm playing my Technics SL-1210 into $100,000 worth of amplification, cables and speakers. Yup, 100 large.I wish you all could hear this. RMAF, Hrumpf. Unfortunately, the speakers are leaving next week and the mono-blocks end of next month.Point...

Re: Earth Wire
If you don't connect the ground wire, then you'll hear a lot of hum when the phono input is selected. You can connect it directly to the chassis of the amp, but if there isn't a specific chassis ground connection, then chances are your amplifier doesn't ...

Re: Idler Drive and my Rek-O-Kut project
I mentioned earlier that electrical hum seemed to be very wire position sensitive. I found the problem. It seems the Monster Cable Interlink 400 MkII I'm using doesn't like being a phono stage wire. I'm not sure if it's the way the wire is built or the 10...

Buddy Bill E and I spent time on Saturday morning doing some real grunt work on comparing phono cartridges and TT's. Between us we had Bill's Ariston and my Thorens TD-125. Bill's had a SME 3009 w/removable headshell. Mine had a new Audio Technica 1005 Mk...

Static got ya down, bunkie?
Me too!Tonight, when I brushed th record the 'pop' was more than annoying. Downright dangerous. So I got out some patch cords and grounded the base of the arm where it meets the top plate of the table to the chassis of the phono pre-amp (the cartridge, was...

Re: All done now
I haven't yet Wayne. I'm kind of in a state of flux here. I bought a newer preamp (C-31V) and I'm sort of waiting for it to get here and then decide what the final setup will consist of. I will try it for sure. One problem is rack space. The shelves...
