Greetings! I've been doodling a 10 Pi type box, sized to fit my Great Plains Audio 414-8c speakers, in my notebook this week. (12" woofer, Qts .20, Fs 30, Vas 8.13 ft. cubed) Anyone try this combination before? I use them with a pair of Altec 902 drivers on Edgarhorn 650 Hz salad bowls, with an 850 hz second order crosover. Currently using them in ordinary vented boxes. (1.6 feet cubed) I'm speculating that horn loading might improve or eliminate the effects of baffle step diffraction, which currently is giving me reduced output below about 250-300 hz. My version, on paper, is currently going to be 51"x18.5"x34", which I notice is much narrower than the 10 Pi loaded with a 15" driver. Am I missing something? Should I be making it wider? If for some reason this is a bad idea, I would like to know before I start turning MDF into sawdust. Thanks!

I've not modeled the Altec 414 in a horn. Have you tried using Hornresp to see what you could come up with?

Nope. But I will this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion. And, by the way, your high frequency compensation circuit sounds great with my Altec 902's. Thanks!
