Wayne...

Thanks for the advice about the KSN1038. I did take the piezo apart as you sugested. It did have alot of debris inside. Most of it seemed to be plactic bits, probably from screwing the horn together. Nonetheless it may have been contributing to the problem. I think most of the distortion I am hearing is coming from the mid/woffer.

I did wrap the backside of the KSN1038's with some Rope Caulk... and I must say I believe there is a difference for the better. I will likely treat the Alpha 10 baskets with something also... I am not sure about the Rope Caulk for those.

Thanks to all who resonded.

Glad you found the junk inside, and glad you got rid of it too. That didn't sound right. I'm not actually glad you found junk inside, well, you know what I mean.

Yes... I was really surprised how much there was... and how easy it was to do the job. Thanks again for the help Wayne, you are always SO helpful !

I would recomend to everybody that is using the KSN-1038 to open them up and dump the junk inside... I doubt that mine were far from what many others have inside them.

Was there junk inside it when you took it out of the carton that you bought it in?

No!

Although I never opened up the peizo out of the package to inspect them at the time. They were sealed in plastic as Wayne ships them with the wire harness and logos.

I would have never suspected there was that much stuff in there. Perhaps some of the tiny bit of the saw dust was added by me ? Don't know.
