Hey everyone. I noticed RCF brand compression drivers today. I can get the RCF N380 second hand for AU$130 (so about US$80) each. I dont actually have much information on these, as the RCF website does not have it listed. However you can view a picture of it here (in the picture it has a throat adapter attached). Here it is http://www.ccslightsound.com.au/cimimages/secondhand/RCF_N380.jpg They look like rather old compression drivers to me from the photo.

I am not even sure if it is a 1" driver, which my 2370A horns take. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Those are interesting looking devices, aren't they?

Another driver I like is the Eminence PSD2002. They sound really good on 2370's, and they aren't very expensive in America. I think prices for these parts are good outside of American too. Eminence has many distributors around the world.

Master
Adrian,
I have to chime in with Wayne on this one.

"Eminence PSD2002's.....sound really good on 2370's"

That is so true and at their price it is crazy how good they sound. At their price you can afford to roll the dice a little, but I don't think they will disappoint. They should cost less than the P Audio stuff you were looking at, but I do not know much about Austrailian trade laws. As you know I run them on 2370's and they really do a nice job. I hope the following info is useful to you.

Later, Thomas

Thanks for the distributor. I've just emailed Central Music Intruments for the prices (pity they dont have price list on site!). I'll post back with the price, hopefully its not more than the P.Audio! (I really dont know why the P.Audio stuff is so cheap here, nothing else is). Thanks for everyones help on this!

Hey, I noticed the graph for the PSD2002, looks good, but drops off like a rock below 1.5KHz. Can this compression driver be used from 800Hz? Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend using a PSD2002 at 800Hz.

Hey Wayne,

I can get the Eminence PSD2002's in Australia from CMI for $AU170 each. YAHHOOOOO! Since a midrange tractrix horn will be used from 200Hz and up, can midrange tractrix horns when designed properly go to 1.6Khz, where the PSD2002 would be crossed? BTW: I have not designed or built the tractrix horns yet as the designing is HARD! I still have a lot to learn :( Am always up for it though :)

Thanks!
Adrian

Hi Adrian!

Certainly, no problem. I think you'll be able to find several cone drivers that will mate well with your 200Hz horn and provide this bandwidth.
