but I took a $200 chance on this CE775 SACD player and it's a BOMB!
Sold the Cambridge and the only question is whether I'll return it in favor of the 555ES or just let it be, it's that good.
Not as forgiving as the Cambridge (a couple of John William's CD's sound like Balalaika favorites) but oh the bass control and shimmery upper. And no subtraction from the 2A3 mid-range. Well, maybe a little more digital sheen.
That's the story on redbook.

Cool beans! I'm glad you like the SACD. I have not given it a good listen as yet. I have HDCD but to be honest, it's marginally better than redbook and I cant tell the difference if it's a 20 bit re-master redbook . I hear very good things about the 555.
