Would the Thermionic Studio Series 4 be a better choice with an SET 8 watt 300b amp? Thanks again,
John

Thermionic or Theater 4 - An often asked question [message #35887 is a reply to message #35884] Mon, 08 April 2002 20:39 Go to previous messageGo to next message

The Theater Series four π Speaker is marginally more efficient, but the Thermionic four π goes a bit deeper. The Thermionics have a different damping value so they sound fuller, and the midrange takes on a slightly different character too, having a sound that I would describe as vintage tube sound. But they are very large.

Thanks Wayne [message #35888 is a reply to message #35883] Mon, 08 April 2002 21:02 Go to previous messageGo to next message

You mentioned that the Thermionic Four Pi has a tiny bit more extension at the top end?

Whats different about em? They both use the 2002 right? Is there a little more top octave compensation?

I just ordered some plywood blades for the skilsaw, some 36" clamps, and a cutting guide/straight edge thingy. I'm set :-).
I'll take lots of pictures of course.

That's right, exactly. The Thermionic uses the same PSD2002 tweeter but has a little more top-octave compensation.
