Come on; the vintage stuff is great; how come no opinions out there?

Which doesn't mean any of them are valid though I have been trying to get somebody to compare the Altec Valencias with the model 14's. I have the Vals and would really like 19's but realistically my shop is too small and they are too expensive for me. So even if you don't own any of these throw out an opinion.

Well my daily speaks are Valencias and I have all the parts for a model 19 waiting to be built. I love the Valencias so much I am building a dedicated tube bi-amp set for them and someday will construct the 19's. What kind of opinions would you find interesting?

I find most postings here interesting. It's a relief to get away from the places where people are fussed up all the time. I have very little to contribute in a technical vein but enjoy reading and learning a bit. I hope to someday get my MC 275 going again as my Altecs really love tube amps.

Things seem to be rather flexible around here! I have all the parts for the 19, the two good amps and a tube or SS crossover. So hey; why not? But at the pace I move it could be a while, and of course I am easily sidetracked, like a kid. Bi-amping is not the panacea it is put out to be in my opinion but I need to try for myself. My system is Darwinian in nature; it continuously evolves.

Not all vintage stuff is great. Just got a Sansui AU-505 delivered today. Pretty neat little amp and sounds much bigger than its 25 watt rating would suggest. But man, it is ever bright compared to the tube amps and gainclone that I'm used to. Oh well, only paid $30 for it and can always sell it for the same amount.
