I have a Sony Tapecorder TC-650 Reel to Reel Machine and I'm trying to find a power cable for it.

Does it have a difficult-to-find connector on the chassis?

That is going to be you easiest and cheapest way out. I have a friend who is good with eletric work so when I need any older parts like that I have him just make them up for me.
