My daughter wants to start taking piano lessons, but I don't own a piano or keyboard. I know that keyboards are less expensive so this is what I will be purchasing. Where can you buy keyboards nowadays?

Best Buy has keyboards, but I don't know it they are the size you should have to take lessons on. I remember growing up, a neighbor girl took piano lessons downtown at the store that sold piano's. They had a room in the back where the owners wife gave lessons.

Maybe they still have that kind of set-up at the piano stores?

Keyboards are still pretty popular, so I think you can find it in music stores. Some book stores which have instrument sections also sell keyboards here. I recommend getting one which is made after a real piano so she will adapt easier when she switches to piano later.

Our first piano was bought from a piano teacher at neighborhood nearby. The piano was old, but it was quite cheap and still functioned well. It was a good introduction for the kids to see if we were really interested in learning piano before buying more expensive instruments. I'm pretty sure you can also find keyboards if you look around.

I see keyboards in almost all music stores I walk into. You may want to buy one that is of good quality and that will stay with your daughter for a long time. It seems pretty easy to learn the keyboard though.
