I was helping a friend set up a new home theater system and we had a friendly disagreement about the sound. I thought the bass was super heavy, overbalancing the mix, and he thought I was crazy. I have to admit I have a bit of a bias against heavy bass, so my mixes have a lighter touch than that of others.

Do you have any biases? Do you try to compensate while mixing for others or just wait for their feedback?

I don't like it really bass heavy either, but I have many friends who seem to think lots of bass equals good sound. I shrug my shoulders and increase the bass for them.
