How do you feel about musak? I don't mind it too much if the songs are the background listening type and it's not so loud I get a headache.

Once I notice it (which isn't always right away) I start getting annoyed by it. I start focusing on it, which increases my annoyance. It's a vicious cycle.

That's the thing about Musak isn't it? It isn't annoying until you notice it. What really makes my skin crawl though is listening to the Musak version of a Motley Crue song.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I find it pretty soothing. Some versions can be pretty annoying, but all I all I don't really mind listening to it.

It's good as background music when I'm working. It certainly isn't something I'd play at a party, but it is good for relaxing or mood music.

As a kid working at Toys R Us, it was used constantly and it drove the part time teens nuts. We did CRAZY stuff under it's influence, totally crazy.

Gag me, I used to work for a sound company in Arizona that installed Musak systems, when more normal installed sound systems were running slim.

I don't really notice it to much unless it happens to be playing a song my kids like. They have been known to start singing along in the elevator. Rolling Eyes

What I hate more than Musak is hold music that is constantly interrupted by a message that they will be getting to me in the order in which my call was taken. I would actually rather listen to the music because I can tune that out while I work. Every time the music stops I think it is going to be a person and then it is just the same recording telling me they will be getting to me. Not every company does this, but I find it annoying.
