What are the ups and downs of mounting the speakers on the ceiling against the wall angled down ? Any sonic advantages or disadvantages ?

Illuminati (33rd Degree)

I've mounted some speakers in clubs like that, angled down towards the listeners. But the ceiling was higher, so there was no real penalty.

I don't think I would like this in a home hifi or home theater install. It's an unnatural sound source position (except for bird chirps and airplanes Smile ). It also moves the speakers nearer to the ceiling, which is not a reflection we want, for the same reasons.
