Somehow looking at him he always reminded me of John Gotti. The Teflon Don.
So is every body happy?

No, nobody is happy here, nor anybody believes in any justice in this World. Haag`s Tribunal is compromised by politics, large influence of some countries and their secret services, strange conception of commanding responsibility in war, long trials against wrong/innocent people, equalizing minor incidents and major things, long and expensive trials... But, probably it`s a better than no Tribunal at all.
In the moment of falling socialism and disintegration of multinational states (USSR, Czech/Slovakia...), Milosevic (and many besides him) tried to create "Great Serbia" on the largest part of former Yugoslavia by war and genocide. He is the most responsible person for those tragic events and series of wars in the former Yugoslavia. And, (Haag`s Tribunal flaws on its side) it`s probably a pitty that he died before the sentence.

Why; what would the sentence have been? To us here the concept of rivalries that extend far back into time is something we have no knowledge of; or what that is like. Even the North/South Civil war only really lasted maybe 50yrs. By then the populations were so mixed that the old rivalry became something of a non-issue.

They (Croatia and B&H) are currently suing the Serbs at the world court, (no doubt, they'll win multibillion judgement), and when albanians annex Kosovo, Croats split Vojvodina with Hungary, take part of Bosnia...perhaps they'll be happy?

p.s. They are almost there. They got rid of most of the serbs.

Don`t want to argue - but Milosevic and his politics is the main reason for war, "world court", and sufferings - Serbs included. Nobody would "split" Vojvodina and take part of the Bosnia. In fact, Dayton piece agreement factually recognized most of the "results" of war in Bosnia - and "Republika Srpska" like the "state inside of state".

Hehe, we used to think that CNN is on your side.
Obviously, thoughts about Milosevic and his politics are very different - and even now there`re some people who think it is something positive. And if not, somebody else is guilty for the consequences - probably even more. Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Slovenia, NATO, USA, Germany, Vatican, CNN...
As I see it, the only way is to radically stop the "war thinking" and Milosevic-like politics, once for all. Then long process of fixing the war damage (material, moral, political), return of refugees, trade and other cooperation, rising of standard, and maybe EU integration...

Agree! The only thing is by the time they are ready, the EU might not exist anymore ;>(

I saw that article in the paper yesterday. I've been too busy to check in on internet or television very much, but I did see that in the newspapers. I remember watching all of that go down from the vantage point of an American, but I knew I was pretty far removed. Dragan and I talked a lot back then and he lived there, so I knew his vantage point was a helluva lot more relable than mine, sitting over here in front of the television in Oklahoma by-God USA. I used to get all riled up watching the evening news, thinking we oughta put things right, stuff like that. (It would be nice to put things right, if possible and one could truly know an absolute "right" but that's another story). I knew that what I saw through the television was just spin, totally BS. I always wondered what was really going on in Yugoslavia back then.
