The bad dye job and unfinished pine board over the vents have, I think, that certain je ne sais quoi that you always strive for.

Kinda tricky balancing them but now they are balanced, 180 degrees out of phase to the mains and the crossover is just a smidge up off the 40 Hz peg. Haven't played much music yet but I'm hearing some pretty good electric bass growls and bass drum w/o disturbing the mid-range.

The floor shakes just a bit, too.
