Plate amp for 3pi subs
https://audioroundtable.com/forum/index.phpindex.php?t=rview&goto=95083&th=23351#msg_95083
I'm ready to build a pair of subs to compliment my 4pis (that I love). They would be strictly for music (no HT) and need to support a 20'x20' room at moderate SPL.
For a myriad of reasons, I'd like the following signal chain: DAC> balanced XLR> sub plate amp (3pi)>balanced XLR> monoblock > 4pi
Would a pair of Dayton Audio SPA250 amps be a reasonable solution? If so, is there any need for the DSP model? Thanks, J

The SPA250DSP plate amp will work just fine, and yes, you'll need the DSP version for flanking subs because it will allow you to set the low-pass filter to 12dB/octave. It will also work for distributed multisubs if you decide to add one or two of those later. So it will give you all the flexibility you'll need.
