Always thought this was one of the best pieces of gear one could own. Even with the voltage doubler circuit and the 7868 tubes. It had a nice musical presentation, a little rounded at the edges but seamless through the mids. The 500 is a little sharper but not as liquid. Bizzybee seems to do a nice job re-building them; and really where can you possibly get a 45 watt tube reciever nowadays, with an excellent tuner section that looks beautifull.
Upgraded they will drive anything and have a little better resolution and nice tight bass. If I was to walk away from this hobby I would get one with a good pair of Pi Theater 3's and be a happy chappy. Wopping big transformers.
