Where did you tweak the control; on VR 301/201 or VR302? You may have to balance the pitch control with the brake adjustment. Let us know how it was tweaked and we may be able to help. The Pitch Control Gain Adjustment is probably where you are misadjusted. Do you have a schematic? It is just a simple pot but it affects all three settings.
If you can get to the three adjustments it should be simple. Are you good with mechanics?
