Howdy, I found this site on direct drive turntables and thought it was interesting. The technological aspect of all these japanese tables seems extreemly sophisticated. It seems reasonable to assume that D.D. faded with the expected extinction of analog during the advent of digital. And the now resurgence of analog the dominance of belt drive as the defacto high end standard might be a result of the prohibitive cost in manufacturing it would take to make a profit in a relatively small market. Technics seems to have survived due to the d.j. market. Thank goodness. Cause I've converted to a mk5 and I say sake's alive. It's a joy to use and listen to. Yes, even with the stock arm.
