Transmitter Tubes

I understand that transmitter tubes aren't as linear as smaller tubes. When operated Class C, I don't suppose linearity is as important as power.

But I also know that no tube is linear over its entire useful range. A reasonably flat diagonal section of its load line is used and the engineer designs a circuit that sets the tube to operate within this region of the curve.

So I'm wondering if transmitting tubes can be similarly used. What's the trade-off's for Class A and Class AB operation?
