Ok! I thought i better post here.
Anyone remember lemmings? thats appropriate here. They go down the gurgler if you dont prevent them. Alot like whats happening in audio, some ppl are being lost with the faith rather than the reality.

!Audiophiles!.
I see 2 types of forums/sites/audio-people.

1- Enthusiasts(just a arbitrary name in this case)

2- Audiophiles

they tend to have the following qualities

1- Enthusiasts
Objective
Thrifty
"my speakers(usualy HE horns) measure +-3db from 30hz to 17khz ,and <2%THD-Yes they sound good"

2- Audiophiles
Subjective
Needless spending(equate higher cost to higher quality)
"my speakers are warm and have great detail but sound better with magic cables"

Now thats ok for me, each to their own!

im obviously a 1,along with adrian and lots of others.

But what bothers me,is like the car audio industry of lies and lack of truth,is the fact that people are wasting so much money on things that dont do anything...

quote
I quite like the bayonet plugs. Up till then, I had been using el cheapo RS Components banana plugs. These were pretty minimalist too and I did not really expect too much of a change

Sound wise.... Well, as I said I did not expect a change. I usually have a friend or two around after making a change to see if they notice anything either. Well, we spontanoeusly exclaimed 'handles the delicate passages with more delicacy!!'. Don;t confuse this with 'more detail' as the detail was there previously, but there seemed to be a bit more finesse with the

micro detail.

Now am i just being sorta self rightous saying 'well that sounds like alot of baloney!'

How can there be distortions going on accross a 'cheaper' interconnect! Surely it would be measurable!

I notice that this forum seems to be group 1 not group 2 ,and its great! I actualy start feeling queesy when i see audiophile BS!

Just wondering if there are any real tweakers out there.

I would consider myself to be a reasonably hardcore tweaker myself. I.e.

Silver re-wiring

, high quality cap replacements, building my own interconnects.
You normally need a at least a basic understanding of electronics but there is a huge amount you can do to a system/component to improve things.

- Silver rewire EPOS ES-14 lead-in wires
- Copper foil - paper in oil (Jensen) Caps for EPOS speakers
- Build my own 'Passive' preamp with DACT stepped attenuator and Roatary switch.
- Silver/OFC Copper re-wire Pre-Amp (hybrid wiring worked best

Didnt the silver is better myth die in the 90s!

Long live HE! down with LE!
Questions: Does anyone see similar? do you agree with what im saying? or not?

maybe il post later with a better sounding paragraph,i cant quite write it how im thinkn it :-S

//end rant!

Cheers!
