John Busch's open baffle speakers were just plain fun at the audio festival. He was kind enough to explain his design so it seemed like a cool idea to build a pair.
I've no talent with wood so a baffle speaker is the right skill level for an entry level speaker project.
The local lumber yard has 1/2" ocf and a much denser 3/4" particle board. A friend advised me that the 1/2" material would ring too much and the heavier and denser the material the better. Yet John used 3/4" ocf for his baffles.
Now I'm wondering what is the right material. Is there a generally accepted level of good/better/best sounding speaker cabinet material?
The 3/4" seems like a good choice for a starter project if for no other reason it has no splinters. Will it sound ok?
Many thanks!
