The assumption is that we are building a single driver speaker. No sub, no tweeter. That requires that the single driver chosen has a range of 20-20kHz. Well,that's not going to so we do the best we can. I want my speakers to do 40-15kHz or better. In order to get the bottom I need, I need at least a 6" driver, and I find that 8"ers give the best overall balance and punch. Opinions vary, but that's mine.
