which is better sounding? A planner or a true ribbon tweeter?
I am looking at building my own speakers 3 pair. First pair was a
2 way tower a sea's tweeter and a silverflute mid bass in a bass
reflex encloser. I used birch plywood with 13 ply's. My 2nd project
was a fostex fe 206e drivers in a bass reflex. Talk about wow sounding
but, to much midbass forwardness. Now I am on my 3rd project. I use
to have the magnepan mg 12's and loved their sound but, the midbass
and bass as many know it was lacking and made a lot of buzzing noise
and rattleing. The bass was on 0 and so was the terble. No loudness
button was turnedd on. The company said thar was odd but, I think it
the way the speakers were. So now on to my new speaker project. I
want a ribbon buy, I am afraid of it sounding to bright and tizzie.
I have read a lot about people doing up grades to them. I love the
planners but, I am afraid again not as much detail or aryieness as
the ribbons. I also need a good midrange looking at the accuton
drivers very well made and uncolored. I will also need to make a
subwoofer that can keep up with my speakers. Please give me advise or
any info on kits I can build or buy or you have built or have bought.
I listen to blues jazz r&b a little techno ambent and acoustic music
classical and pop and alturative ans movie's and video games.
Thanks jm
