would the design still be ok if you made it out of 3/4 in. MDF with 48" H.,16" width, and 12" depth? Do the multiples of 4" create a standing wave problem? In rough cubic feet (not allowing for the thicker wood) it's 66.44 as designed and 64.0 as above. Purpose of change would be to get 4 sides that could be built easily with the pre-made 3/4" MDF shelves (which come in 12 and 16" sizes). If it might sound worse, no big deal to do the woodwork...
