Basshorns are bandpass devices. Their rear chamber is tuned to resonate near Fc, to boost output where the horn starts to unload. The front chamber is also tuned and acts as a low-pass filter. The horn flare itself is a 1/4 wave resonator that works over the passband of the horn. So basshorns, like bandpass boxes, employ front and rear resonators to achieve their intended results.
