Measuring intermodulation distortion is a little more complex than measuring harmonic distortion. The Doppler effect is the phenomenon that makes a train have higher pitch when it is coming towards you, and drift off to a lower pitch when going away. It is related to cone movement, and is a function of excursion and frequency. So while it's an easy concept to grasp, it's a little trickier to quantify by measurement. The waveshape itself changes, modified by the movement of the cone.
